Slow Food Festival
Piedmont, Italy

This region has too many astonishingly good things going for it for us to not include it any longer, Barolo and Barberesco wines from an outstanding run of seven cracking vintages, arguably the best cooking in Italy, fantastic cheeses, wonderful hotels, restaurants and scenery.

We are organising a long weekend as a taster to visit the Slow Foods Salone del Gusto, fair in Turin. To the uninitiated the Slow Food Arcigola is a movement to preserve and promote all the things that make Italian food and wine unique. Tasting Places has been a member and supporter since the beginning and the fair will be a serious chance to taste the best there is on offer both nationally and regionally, an opportunity not to be missed for all foodlovers. We will be staying at La Contea, Claudia and Tonino's homely albergo in Neive. They are both chefs and wine makers, great cooks and warm hosts.

There is no hands-on cooking on this trip just wonderful food, wonderful wines, the hospitality of La Contea and the majesty of the region. Martin Saxon will be our wine expert for the trip.
