Villa Casa Grande is a 15th century Villa belonging to Il Conte Brandolini
d’Adda an important family with historically strong ties to Venice’s
Serenissima, the Venetian Council. Entering the villa through the imposing
entrance hall, decorated with giant swords, the family's battle standard,
armature and statues - the ground floor has two living rooms, two dining
halls and a fully equipped designer kitchen with a traditional Venetian
open fireplace.
The kitchen opens up to a newly restored portico. Long lunches will
be taken in the granary where the family’s silk production took
place, it opens out into the garden with a stunning view of the rose
garden. After a dip in the 18-meter swimming pool, alfresco dinners
will be enjoyed under the monumental chestnut tree. Some of the ensuite
bedrooms have original frescoes dating back to1823. The exceptionally
comfortable bedrooms each have state of the art bathrooms.
The area is famous for its Prosecco, we will visit one of the top producers
for a tour and tasting. Just down the road from the Villa is one of
the leading regional restaurants serving delicious local cuisine, their
wine cellar underneath the restaurant is outstanding and a visit to
it is a must.
Classes will take place in recently restored kitchen where we will
stir up all the gourmet treats of the Veneto, delicious risottos, fish
soups, the use of spices imported from the orient which are so important
to the dishes of the region. The local mountain cheeses are outstanding,
sampling the nutty Montasio and soft rich Asiago with a glass of Prosecco
is a truly delicious experience.
